Abstract

Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado analiza el impacto multidimensional de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) en la sociedad, centrándose en tres ámbitos clave: el financiero, el social y el geopolítico. Mediante un enfoque interdisciplinar, se muestra cómo la IA no solo es una disrupción tecnológica, sino también un motor de transformación estructural global. En el plano financiero, se estudia el auge de las inversiones en infraestructura asociada a la IA, como centros de datos o redes eléctricas, y su capacidad de atraer capital institucional. Casos como la adquisición de GIP por BlackRock o su fondo conjunto con Microsoft reflejan el valor estratégico de esta tecnología. También se abordan los impactos ambientales del alto consumo de energía y agua, lo que introduce retos éticos y de sostenibilidad. A nivel social, se examinan los efectos de la IA en la privacidad, la salud mental y las habilidades cognitivas. Se analizan fenómenos como la manipulación algorítmica de opiniones, la creación de vínculos afectivos con máquinas y la dependencia de herramientas automatizadas, que están transformando nuestras relaciones personales y con la tecnología. En el ámbito geopolítico, se destaca el papel de la IA en la competencia entre potencias. Se comparan las políticas regulatorias de China, EE. UU. y la UE, haciendo énfasis en la Ley de Inteligencia Artificial europea como un avance clave en la gobernanza tecnológica. Además, se señala la relevancia de los microchips y la infraestructura en la carrera por la supremacía digital. El trabajo ofrece una visión crítica y realista sobre los desafíos y oportunidades que plantea la IA, subrayando la necesidad de integrarla en una sociedad justa, sostenible y democrática.

This thesis explores the multidimensional impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across three core areas: finance, society, and geopolitics. Through a multidisciplinary lens, it argues that AI is more than a technological breakthrough, it is a driver of deep structural change in markets, values, and international power dynamics. In the financial domain, the rise of AI has shifted investment priorities toward infrastructure capable of supporting massive data processing and connectivity. Institutional capital is increasingly directed toward data centers, fiber-optic networks, and energy systems. BlackRock’s acquisition of Global Infrastructure Partners and its $30 billion AI fund with Microsoft illustrate this trend. The thesis also highlights the environmental costs of AI, particularly energy and water consumption, raising concerns about the sustainability of such investments. Socially, the thesis investigates how AI influences privacy, mental health, and interpersonal dynamics. It examines the effects of algorithmic manipulation, dependence on AI tools, and emotional bonds with machines. Examples include TikTok’s data usage, AI chatbots as emotional companions, and academic research on cognitive offloading. These trends point to a redefinition of how we think, interact, and process information in the digital age. Geopolitically, AI is analyzed as a key strategic resource. The thesis compares the regulatory approaches of China, the U.S., and the EU, with a focus on the European Union’s AI Act as a pioneering attempt at ethical oversight. It also explores AI’s role in national security, surveillance, and the global race for technological supremacy, especially in the U.S.-China semiconductor rivalry. Ultimately, the study calls for a reevaluation of how AI is integrated into society, advocating for investment, governance, and innovation frameworks that prioritize democratic values, human dignity, and sustainable development.
