El solipsismo arriano y la lógica de la ortodoxia trinitaria: del mito de la helenización del cristianismo al giro metafísico de Nicea

Abstract

Arrio consideró que Dios Padre no compartía su sustancia divina con Cristo. Esta postura abocó al hereje alejandrino a un “solipsismo teológico” que concibe a Dios en soledad eterna, en gran medida por influencia del neoplatonismo y su monismo ontológico. Frente al tópico que achaca la helenización del cristianismo al homoousios niceno, este artículo mostrará que el Concilio de Nicea se caracterizó por reaccionar al peligro helenizante de Arrio y por dialogar críticamente con la filosofía. En este sentido, afirmamos que la ortodoxia trinitaria de Nicea asumió y culminó con éxito la lógica de la alianza subyacente al monoteísmo bíblico, y que, además, terminó inscribiendo un giro decisivo en la metafísica mediante la prioridad de la alteridad y el amor.

Arius considered that God the Father did not share his divine substance with Christ. This position led the Alexandrian heretic to a “theological solipsism” that conceives God in an eternal solitude, mostly due to the influence of Neoplatonism and its ontological monism. In contrast to the cliché that attributes the Hellenization of Christianity to the Nicene homoousios, this paper shows that the Council of Nicaea was characterized by reacting to the Hellenizing threat of Arius and by dialoguing critically with philosophy. In this sense, it is argued that the Trinitarian orthodoxy of Nicaea assumed and successfully culminated the logic of the Covenant underlying biblical monotheism, and, in addition, it ended up making a decisive turn in metaphysics through the priority of otherness and love.
