¿Derechos Animales?
Abstract
Este escrito pretende argumentar de manera tanto teórica como práctica la necesidad de reconocer derechos a los animales. Se discutirá el origen de estos derechos, cuales son las cualidades que ha de reunir un animal para poder convertirse en sujeto de derechos y finalmente se realizará una propuesta de Declaración de Derechos Animales así como una aplicación práctica de esta. La línea argumental sigue la defensa de la agencia moral de los animales no humanos así como su capacidad de sufrir dolor. Por esto se argumenta que deben ser reconocidos unos derechos morales, que se moverán en las zonas grises de las teorías de los principales autores de la materia hasta el momento de escritura de este documento. The aim of this paper is to argue, from a practical and theoretical point of view the need of the recognition of animal rights. The discussion will touch from what the origin of the rights is, to what are the attributes an animal must have to have its rights recognized. I will discuss the moral agency and the pain they suffer, and will come up with a draft of a Animal Rights Declaration. Finally, I will try to bring the topic down to the earth and will discuss how we could apply those rights to farming and the treatment of animals.
