La conexión entre los flujos migratorios y el terrorismo : estudio de caso en Reino Unido

Abstract

Este trabajo de investigación analiza la conexión entre los flujos migratorios y el terrorismo en el Reino Unido teniendo como punto de partida el año 2005, fecha en la que el terrorismo islámico ejecuta un ataque en el corazón de Londres. Este trabajo acerca al lector a la comunidad internacional global en la que convivimos y ayuda a entender los fenómenos de la migración y el terrorismo. Fenómenos internacionales que se caracterizan por una clara noción de transnacionalidad y, además, por una enorme complejidad para entender sus motivos y predecir sus consecuencias.

El objetivo principal ha sido el de elaborar un trabajo de análisis sobre la relación existente la recepción de inmigrantes por parte del Reino Unido y un posible aumento de ataques terroristas islámicos en suelo británico. Dicho de otras palabras, analiza si el terrorismo viene dado por el incremento de los flujos migratorios recibidos por un país receptor, en este caso, el Reino Unido

Una vez realizado un marco teórico, se analiza el contexto migratorio europeo durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX para compararlo con el contexto de Reino Unido en el mismo periodo, dando paso así a un análisis cualitativo sobre lo ocurrido en Reino Unido desde 2005 en materia de migración y terrorismo.

Finalmente, el presente trabajo llega a varias reflexiones que son esenciales para comprender que no hay razón para legitimar políticas antimigratorias a través de una correlación positiva entre inmigración y terrorismo. El documento también refleja una revisión exhaustiva de las políticas migratorias llevadas a cabo por los responsables políticos del Reino Unido y su posible relación con los dos fenómenos analizados.

This research paper analyzes the connection between migratory flows and terrorism in the United Kingdom, taking as reference point the year 2005, the date in which the international terrorism conduct a terrible attack in the heart of London. This paper helps to understand the phenomena of migration and terrorism within an international community context. These international phenomena are characterized by a clear notion of transnationality and, furthermore, by a great complexity to understand their motives and predict their consequences.

The main objective of the present paper has been to conduct an analysis paper on the relationship between the reception of immigrants by the United Kingdom and a possible increase in Islamic terrorist attacks on British soil. In other words, it analyzes whether terrorism is caused by the increase in migratory flows received by a recipient country, in this case, the United Kingdom.

Once a theoretical framework is made, the European migratory context is analyzed during the second half of the 20th century in order to compare it with the context of the United Kingdom for the same period, as a precedent to understand potential links between migration and terrorism throughout a qualitative analysis.

Finally, the present work comes to several reflections that are essential to understand that there is no reason to legitimate anti-migratory policies with the conexion between migration and terrorism. The paper also reflects an exhaustive revision of migration policies carried out by the UK policymakers and its potential relation with the two phenomena analyzed.
