Las mujeres del linaje Fernández de Córdoba y la espiritualidad entre la Edad Media y la Moderna

Abstract

Las mujeres del linaje Fernández de Córdoba desarrollaron una activa labor de promoción espiritual desde finales de la Edad Media y durante la primera mitad del siglo XVI. Bien fuese fundando monasterios, bien ingresando en ellos como monjas o, incluso, actuando como mecenas de escritos de espiritualidad, su labor dejó huella profunda. Voy a estudiar aquí su especial vínculo con la reforma religiosa y, en concreto, su inclinación por el franciscanismo. Mi intención es valorar los contenidos religiosos pero también su posible interés social e incluso político en el marco de un linaje tan poderoso y activo.

The women of the lineage Fernández de Córdoba developed an active work of spiritual promotion from the end of the Middle Ages and during the first half of the sixteenth century. By founding monasteries, entering them as nuns or even acting as patrons of spiritual writings, their work left a deep imprint. It is important to study their special link with religious reform and, in particular, their Franciscan inclination. The intention is to value the religious content of their actions, but also their possible social and even political interest in the framework of such a powerful and active lineage.
