La Unión Europea en la Encrucijada. Causas y alternativas.

Abstract

Después de superar a una de la crisis económica más profundas de la historia, donde se cuestionó la supervivencia del euro, La Unión Europea y la Eurozona se encuentran en un punto sin precedentes. Las dificultades encontradas en el combate a la crisis, el apogeo de los partidos euroescépticos y el Brexit sitúan a la Unión Económica y Monetaria en el punto de mira. Así, se abre un debate político sobre el futuro del proyecto europeo que muchos reclamaban desde hace tiempo. A lo largo del trabajo se analizará cuales han sido las posibles causas de generación de divisiones dentro de la UE. Para ello, se realizará un breve análisis de la creación de la UE, de la creación de la moneda única y la política monetaria de la Zona Euro, prestando especial atención a la actuación del BCE en el marco de la crisis de 2008 y de 2010. También se verá, como ante los retos y desafíos de la UE han surgido diferentes propuestas y tendencias acerca de cómo debe ser el camino que el proyecto europeo debe seguir en el futuro. Se analizarán las principales corrientes que pretenden solucionar los problemas actuales y los autores que las defienden, distinguiendo entre la postura ortodoxa, reformista y rupturista.

After overcoming one of the deepest economic crises in history, where the survival of the euro was questioned, the European Union and the Eurozone are at an unprecedented point. The difficulties encountered in the fight against the crisis, the apogee of the Eurosceptic parties and Brexit put the Economic and Monetary Union in the spotlight. This opens up a political debate on the future of the European project, which many have long been calling for. In the course of this work we will analyze the possible causes of divisions within the EU. To this end, a brief analysis will be made of the creation of the EU, the creation of the single currency and the monetary policy of the Euro Zone, paying special attention to the ECB's action in the context of the 2008 and 2010 crises. It will also be seen how, in the face of the EU's challenges, different proposals and trends have emerged regarding the path that the European project should follow in the future. It will analyze the main currents that seek to solve current problems and the authors that defend them, distinguishing between the orthodox, reformist and breakaway positions.
