Abstract
A scenario is predicted for the coming years where the generation is mostly renewable. This presents two technical problems. Firstly, generation with power electronics determines faster dynamics than conventional generation, so its interaction with the dynamics of the grid are not known in depth. Secondly, the stability of this electrical system must be studied. This project has studied the small signal stability of a grid made up only of wind turbines. A linear model of a doubly fed induction machine has been used to create the linear model of the complete power system. Eigenvalues and participation factors of the complete system state matrix were obtained in order to study the dynamic response with two main objectives: To analyze the time scales and interactions between the grid dynamics and the wind turbine dynamics and to study the stability of this electrical system.
It will be concluded how the coupling between the grid and wind turbines is, how the speed of the control loops affects the temporal response of the system and this coupling, and finally, it will be studied whether the system is stable.
