La criatura, la libertad y la infinitud

Abstract

La teología occidental del siglo XX comparte un presupuesto fundamental: la condición de criatura es esencial y constitutivamente finita. Su finitud sería consecuencia de su condición creada, pero estaría abierta a la infinitud de Dios. Esta apertura sería debida a que la criatura procede de la absoluta infinitud de Dios y estaría orientada hacia esa divina infinitud. Este ensayo se centra en la cuestión de la libertad. Y desde ella pretende explorar la viabilidad de una tesis alternativa: ¿qué sucedería si la verdadera condición esencial de la creación estuviese marcada por una verdadera y actual infinitud creada?

Western theology of the twentieth century shares a fundamental presupposition: creature s condition is essential and constitutively finite. Its finitude would be a consequence of its created condition, but it would be open to the infinity of God. This opening would be due because the creature comes from the absolute infinity of God and it would be oriented towards this divine infinity. This essay focuses on the question of freedom. From this point of departure, it tries to explore the feasibility of an alternative thesis: what would be happen if the true essential condition of creation were marked by a true and actual created infinity?
