Revisión sistemática sobre la efectividad de tratamientos no farmacológicos en la disminución del dolor en pacientes paliativos

Abstract

Actualmente buscamos el trato integral al paciente y para ello hemos empezado a desarrollar técnicas no farmacológicas que aborden todos los síntomas del paciente, aunque su eficacia nunca ha sido bien contrastada. Objetivo: Valorar si los tratamientos no farmacológicos son efectivos en la reducción de la intensidad del dolor y el aumento del confort en pacientes adultos que precisan cuidados paliativos. Método: Revisión sistemática de la literatura en inglés y español. Con la estrategia (“Palliative Care” OR “Hospice Care”) AND (“pain” OR "analgesia") AND ("complementary therapies" OR “alternative medicine”), ampliada según fuera preciso en las bases de datos de Cinahl, PubMed y Epistemonikos. Resultados: Hay una diferencia en la escala analógica (0-10) de -0,26 (IC 95% -0,72, 0,21) a favor del grupo masaje, que no alcanza significación estadística. Conclusiones: Sería preciso realizar investigaciones a nivel general; posteriormente en Paliativos antes de poder determinar con rotundidad la eficacia o no del tratamiento.

Method: Systematic review of the literature in English and Spanish. With the strategy (“Palliative Care” OR “Hospice Care”) AND (“pain” OR "analgesia") AND ("complementary therapies" OR “alternative medicine”), extended whenever it was necessary, in the databases CINAHL, PubMed and Epistemonikos. Main outcome: There is a difference on the analog scale (0-10) of -0.26 (95% CI -0,72, 0,21) for the massage group, which is not statistically significant. Conclusions: It would be necessary to carry out investigations on a general level; later in Palliative Care before we can categorically determine the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of treatment.
