La presencia de China en África : motivaciones, consecuencias y prospecciones
Abstract
Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado analiza la involucración de China en el continente africano como ejemplo de proyección de influencia internacional en el contexto competitivo entre Estados Unidos y la República Popular de China. Se estudia la evolución histórica de la presencia china en África desde tiempos de Mao Zedong hasta la actualidad. Asimismo, se explican los motivos que han llevado al gigante asiático a convertirse en el principal actor extranjero en el Continente, eclipsando a EE. UU. y las antiguas potencias coloniales. Finalmente, se presentan proyecciones sobre el efecto que tendrán una serie de retos y nuevas tendencias como la digitalización y la transición ecológica sobre la posición actual de China en África. This Final Project studies China’s involvement in the African continent as an example of foreign influence projection within the globally competitive context between the United States and the People’s Republic of China. An analysis will be carried out of the evolution of China’s presence in Africa from the times of Mao Zedong to present day. In addition, the study will explain the motivations that have led the Asian giant to become the most prominent foreign player in the continent, overshadowing the US and former colonial powers. Finally, projections will be presented as pertains to how current obstacles and new trends like digitalization and clean energy sources will affect China’s position in Africa moving forward.
