This master thesis studies and analyses the operation of distribution networks under different flexibility options such as demand response (load shifting, load shedding…) or distributed generation. To shed light on this topic and be able to present justified conclusions, the studies will be based upon a mathematical model developed by Tractebel and programmed in an optimization software (GAMS). The novelty of the programme is that it is extremely scalable and in a disaggregated way can give information about grid’s behaviour under different scenarios. The input data to feed the model has been provided by the IIT. Once the model is programmed, some tests will be done to be sure that the obtained outputs are trustful and then various sensibility analyses about different parameters will be performed to acquire the maximum information as possible about distribution network operation. Furthermore, this master thesis also identifies the main limitations of the model and gives some possible ideas to enhance the model. For example, a programme to include electrical storage in the code will be included in this mentioned section.en-GB
