Abstract
This project relates to the mechanical design of a drone for a specific purpose, autonomous stocktaking of big warehouses, and makes use of a list of concrete components with their specific dimensions. It is part of a pair of related projects, the other one having been made by Laura Martínez de Guinea García and consisting in the design of an electronic board to interconnect and feed the electronic components. A 4 rotors drone was designed with a structure that surrounds and integrally protects every component in case of accident with a truncated icosahedron geometry configuration for the external collision protection. It's oriented to be fully 3D printed for the purpose of saving weight and accelerating the prototyping phase, since in ICAI university was a good availability of these machines, but with minor design changes part of the components could be substituted by standard comercial carbon fiber or fiberglass rods. Despite the orientation to a concrete task, there was an intention to look for modularity and inclusion of different sensors in order to apply these same designs to diverse usages, as long as they precise to carry lightweight or none load and its structure only needs to hold its own components weight.
