Ética e inteligencia artificial

Abstract

En un mundo ya totalmente dependiente de los ordenadores y en el que los avances tecnológicos y computacionales aumentan de manera exponencial a través, de entre otros avances, de la Inteligencia Artificial, asalta la duda y la preocupación de dónde están los límites de este nuevo tipo de tecnología. La creación de máquinas capaces de aprender y tomar decisiones por sí mismas y la implantación de nuevas tecnologías en nuestro día a día, acarrean numerosos dilemas éticos.

A lo largo de esta última década, hemos podido ver muchos ámbitos en los que se ha empezado a implementar la IA, mostrando las potenciales ventajas que esta implementación podría traer, pero también nos ha mostrado el lado más oscuro de esta nueva tecnología. Así, hemos visto como la IA trae consigo infinitas posibilidades, pudiendo traducirse en una eficiencia económica o un desarrollo en la investigación científica sin precedentes, gracias a la capacidad de procesamiento de grandes conjuntos de datos y de la capacidad de ir “aprendiendo” de la experiencia propia, pero también puede traer consigo un incremento en las desigualdades sociales, un mayor control social, entre otros, haciendo que las perspectivas de futuro no sean tan esperanzadoras. La IA puede desarrollarse para potenciar tanto los aspectos positivos como los negativos del ser humano, por lo que está en nuestra mano decidir qué camino tomará.

Este trabajo surge de la necesidad de empezar a plantearse cuáles son los aspectos éticos que debe de seguir el desarrollo de esta tecnología, ya que, teniendo en cuenta la velocidad a la que progresa, puede que en menos tiempo del que prevemos, ya sea demasiado tarde.

In a world that is already totally dependent on computers and in which technological and computational advances are increasing exponentially through, among other advances, Artificial Intelligence, doubt and concern arise as to where the limits of this new type of technology are. The creation of machines capable of learning and making decisions on their own and the implementation of new technologies in our daily lives entail numerous ethical dilemmas.

Throughout this last decade, we have been able to see many areas in which AI has begun to be implemented, showing the potential advantages that this implementation could bring, but it has also shown us the darker side of this new technology. Thus, we have seen how AI brings with it infinite possibilities, which can be translated into unprecedented economic efficiency or development in scientific research, thanks to the capacity to process large data sets and the ability to "learn" from one's own experience, but it can also bring with it an increase in social inequalities, greater social control, among others, making future perspectives less hopeful. AI can be developed to enhance both the positive and negative aspects of the human being, so it is in our hands to decide which path to take.

This work arises from the need to start thinking about the ethical aspects that the development of this technology should follow, since, taking into account the speed at which it progresses, it may be that in less time than we foresee, it may be too late.
