dc.description.abstract | The experience of the war and the impossibility of Jewish assimilation gave Rosenzweig a strange prophetic vision that, beyond the centuries immediately following his own life, points to the fact that the world can only, whether it knows it or not, in the long run be Jewish and Christian simultaneously. But first there must possibly be the horrendous trials of totalitarianism on both the left and the right, both fanatically religious and fanatically atheistic. Rather, it is not that they will occur, but that the evil of the impatient, fearful human heart tends to do such dreadful experiments in social engineering before it surrenders to the evidence that Judgment is not ultimately human. | en-GB |
