Abstract

El presente Trabajo de Fin de Grado realiza un estudio en profundidad del mercado de bonos verdes, un instrumento de renta fija innovador que busca garantizar la transición a una economía baja en carbono. El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar la situación actual del mercado de bonos verdes. Se tratará de observar las principales tendencias y proponer recomendaciones para los desafíos identificados. El interés de este estudio se deriva del exponencial crecimiento del mercado en los últimos años y el gran apetito de los inversores por este instrumento, que ofrece beneficios para todos los agentes involucrados. En el trabajo se identifican dos problemas principales. El primero de ellos reside en la falta de regulación y discrepancias en cuanto a la definición de verde. El segundo problema hace referencia a la escasez de oferta, motivada por la reducida participación de los países emergentes, las dificultades que enfrentan las pequeñas empresas con limitado acceso a capital y las corporaciones cuyos modelos de negocio se encuentran en transición medioambiental.

This thesis is an in-depth study of the green bond market, an innovative fixed income instrument that seeks to ensure the transition to a low-carbon economy. The objective of this study is to assess the current situation of the green bond market. It will attempt to observe the main trends and to propose recommendations for the challenges identified. The interest of this study arises from the exponential growth of the market in the last few years and the great appetite of investors for this instrument, which offers benefits for all the agents involved. The paper identifies two main problems. The first one is the lack of regulation and discrepancies in the definition of green. The second problem refers to the shortage of supply, motivated by the reduced participation of emerging countries, the difficulties faced by small companies with limited access to capital and firms whose business models are in environmental transition.
