Abstract
This Final Undergraduate Project aims at conducting exploratory research on whether the widely accepted theory by the scientific consensus that women leaders are less influenced by the Overconfidence bias and that they are naturally leaned towards a Transformational leadership style more frequently than their male peers, is applicable to world leaders’ speeches in Twitter during COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, it is studied each leader’s management quality level of the pandemic (in terms of deaths and infections), and it is compared to their leadership style and level of Overconfidence bias over the time frame analyzed. To carry out the Sentiment Analysis text mining techniques were used with R Studio. This paper finally concludes that there is scarce evidence to state unequivocally (although there are in some time periods) that men are more influenced by the Overconfidence bias, but they do demonstrate with a higher level of evidence that women leaned towards a transformational leadership style, as their speeches transmitted, in general, more positiveness than their male peers’ ones.
