Espejo de inquisidores. El sermón del carmelita Raimundo Lumbier por la beatificación de Pedro de Arbués (1664)

Abstract

El carmelita Raimundo Lumbier pronunció un sermón en el Real Palacio de la Aljafería, sede del tribunal del Santo Oficio en Zaragoza, con motivo de la fiesta y elebración de la beatificación de Pedro de Arbués, proclamada el 20 de abril de 1664. Se culminaba el largo proceso que había llegado al maestro de Épila a los altares, que se había visto dilatado, entre otros motivos, por las fuertes implicaciones políticas del caso. Si bien se trata de un tema que ha merecido la atención de diversos especialistas, el análisis del escrito de Lumbier nos permite aportar nuevas perspectivas y acercarnos a un prestigioso intelectual, que tuvo una marcada relevancia en el ámbito de su Orden y de la Universidad, y que ejerció como calificador de la Inquisición.

Carmelite Raimundo Lumbier delivered a sermon at the Royal Palaceof the Aljafería, seat of the Court of the Holy Office in Zaragoza, on the occasion of the feast and celebration of the beatification of Pedro de Arbués, proclaimed on 20April 1664. The long process that had reached the master of Epila to the altars, which had been delayed, among other reasons, due to the strong political implications of the case. Although it is a subject that has deserved the attention of various specialists, the nalysis of Lumbier's writing allows usbring new perspectives and get closer to a prestigious intellectual, who hada marked relevance in the field of his Order and the University, and thatserved as qualifier of the Inquisition.
