Valoración y análisis comparativo de dos emisiones de CoCos : BBVA y Banco Santander
Abstract
Tras
la
crisis
financiera
de
2007
se
puso
de
manifiesto
que
ni
la
cantidad
ni
la
calidad
del
capital
de
las
entidades
eran
adecuadas
para
un
escenario
como
el
que
se
acontecía.
Así,
tanto
los
reguladores
como
las
agencias
de
rating
se
replantean
el
tratamiento
de
los
instrumentos
como
mitigadores
del
riesgo
de
liquidez
de
las
entidades
y
para
aumentar
su
solvencia.
El
CoCo
es
el
principal
resultado
de
los
cambios
y
modificaciones
adoptados
tras
los
acuerdos
de
Basilea
III,
pensado
para
que
las
entidades
financieras
puedan
adaptarlo
a
sus
necesidades
y
poder
cumplir
con
las
fuertes
exigencias
a
las
que
están
sometidas.
En
este
trabajo
se
propone
un
modelo
de
valoración
de
estos
productos
financieros
que
permita
comparar
de
forma
aproximada
dos
CoCos
de
característica
relativamente
similares. After
the
2007
financial
crisis
it
became
clear
that
neither
the
quantity
nor
the
quality
of
capital
of
the
entities
were
adequate
for
a
scenario
like
that.
Thus,
both
regulators
and
rating
agencies
are
rethinking
of
hybrid
instruments
as
liquidity
risk
mitigators
apart
from
to
increase
its
solvency.
CoCos
are
the
result
of
the
changes
and
amendments
adopted
after
the
Basel
III
agreements,
designed
for
financial
institutions
to
suit
their
needs
and
to
meet
the
strong
demands
to
which
they
are
asked
for.
In
this
paper
it
is
proposed
a
pricing
model
that
allows
comparing
two
CoCos
relatively
similar.
