Abstract

Medicina, Psicoterapia y Cultura en Juan Rof Carballo, de Luis Valenzuela Doussinague, UPCO, 2015, pretende recuperar para las Ciencia Humanas y Sociales la figura de este médico, psicoterapeuta y humanista español. El autor defiende tres tesis: primero, la originalidad con la que el autor piensa su profesión médica, cómo Rof intenta la corrección de una posición exclusivamente física-química en la visión de la enfermedad que sólo puede darse reconociendo los factores psicológicos y espirituales, y su influencia en el enfermar. Busca así mostrar su idea de la Medicina Antropológica y de la Medicina Psicosomática. En segundo lugar, busca mostrar cómo consigue realizar una increíble interconexión de las ciencias humanas y las ciencias naturales. Rof expone lo mejor que la psicoterapia profunda ha aportado al conocimiento del hombre en el siglo XX, de modo tan rico, sugerente, en síntesis creativa (su creativa manera de pensar la persona, la urdimbre, la violencia, la ternura, y la relación entre generaciones) con muy diversos saberes: filosóficos, teológicos, médicos, artísticos, etc. Con Rof estas aportaciones de la psicología del siglo XX van siendo primero pensadas, articuladas y luego expresadas en un castellano límpido, y puestas en relación con conocimientos filosóficos, artísticos, teológicos, y ubicadas en un amplio horizonte de reflexión filosófica Por último, la tercera tesis pretende descubrirque estamos ante un sabio, no un filósofo sistemático, pero sí un ensayista, uno de los mejores pensadores españoles, con páginas originales y rompedoras. Con Rof, humanista cristiano, las ciencias humanas encuentran claves desde un horizonte de verdadera cultura, cuya idea del hombre, de su biología y espíritu, se abre, frente a una cultura meramente positivista, a la pregunta sobre Dios. Con Rof la razón no capitula o renuncia a las posibilidades más elevadas del hombre. va indagando el fondo constitutivo de lo humano, desde la biología hasta el espíritu; con quien uno mira al hombre en su íntima relación con el trabajo, la cultura, el arte y el sentido último del Ser y lo sagrado.

The author stands up for three aspects: firstly, the originality the author shows in his medical profession, how he tries a properly and exclusively physical and chemical position in the concept of illness that can only occur recognising the psychological and spiritual aspects and their influence on getting ill. That is how he desires to show his idea of Anthropological and Psychosomatic Medicines. Secondly, he wants to show how he gets an incredible connection between the human and natural sciences. Rof expounds the best that the deep psychotherapy has ever given to the human knowledge in the XX century, in a rich and intriguing way, in a creative synthesis (his creative way of thinking about the person, the warp, the violence, the tenderness, and the relationship between generations). With Rof these XX century psychological contributions are firstly thought, joined and displayed in a limpid Spanish, and they are put in connection with scientific, philosophical, artistic and theological knowledges, and placed in a wide philosophical thought area. Finally, the third aspect tries to bring up that we are in front of a wise person, not a systematic philosopher, but an essayist, one of the best Spanish thinkers, with original and shocking pages. With Rof, a Christian humanist, the human sciences find some keys from a real cultural side, whose concept of the man, of his biology and spirit, opens, to simply positivist culture, to the question about God. With Rof the mind doesn’t give up or refuse to the highest man’s possibilities. With Rof we can look at the man in his closest relationship with work, family, culture, art and the last concept of the person and the religious.
