No se acerque a esta obra quien aspire a ver reflejadas las glorias del imperio español en el Extremo Oriente a través de sus misioneros, y sí, quien esté dispuesto a descubrir cómo China puede acogerse en un lienzo de textura ibérica sin miedo a que el encuentro haga imposible una síntesis artística bella e inspiradora. Diego de Pantoja es puesto en conexión existencial, en definitiva, con un ailanto de raíces valdemoreñas, tronco jesuítico, ramas confucianas y fruto universal, y ninguna de esas realidades tendría derecho a reclamarlo como exclusiva o primariamente suyo.

Those who aspire to see the glories of the Spanish empire in the Far East reflected through its missionaries should not approach this work, but those who are willing to discover how China can take refuge in a canvas with an Iberian texture without fear of being the encounter makes a beautiful and inspiring artistic synthesis impossible.
