Finanzas sostenibles: aproximación a su regulación y desarrollo en el contexto de la UE

Abstract

Las entidades financieras son esenciales en la economía y debido al papel que ostentan pueden influir considerablemente en la economía y en la transición hacia una economía sostenible. El presente trabajo analiza la normativa existente en Europa en relación con las finanzas sostenibles. De esta manera se aborda el origen de estas, su evolución y concepto, así como la importancia que tienen en la actualidad. También se examinan los antecedentes de la regulación de las finanzas sostenibles y las nuevas normativas que están siendo aprobadas. Adicionalmente se presenta una aproximación a la regulación de los distintos productos financieros sostenibles. En definitiva, el trabajo ofrece una visión global de la regulación de las finanzas sostenibles en Europa y en su contexto mundial.

Financial institutions are central to the economy and because of their role they can have a significant influence on the economy and the transition to a sustainable economy. This paper analyses the existing regulation in Europe in relation to sustainable finance. It discusses the origin of sustainable finance, its evolution and concept, as well as its current importance. It also examines the background to the regulation of sustainable finance and the new regulations that are being approved. In addition, an approach to the regulation of the different sustainable financial products is presented. In short, the paper provides an overview of the regulation of sustainable finance in Europe and in its global context.
