This article explores one of the most suggestive aspects of the figure of Teresa of Jesus: her reputation as a genuine "master of suspicion". Her writings aim to alert us to our prejudices, blindness and false securities in all aspects of life, starting with inward suspicion aimed at our spiritual selves and then extending this suspicion to all areas of human life: society, the Church or the position of women.
