LA PROTECCIÓN ANIMAL SEGÚN LOS PRINCIPALES PARTIDOS POLÍTICOS DE ESPAÑA EN LAS ELECCIONES GENERALES DE 2023

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza el tratamiento de la protección animal por parte de los principales partidos políticos españoles en las elecciones generales de 2023 desde la lente teórica de los Critical Animal Studies. A través de un análisis crítico de contenido, se examinan los programas electorales del PP, PSOE, Vox, Sumar y PACMA para conocer su postura acerca de la protección animal. Se contextualiza el concepto de protección animal, haciéndose referencia a los dos principales movimientos de protección animal, el antiespecismo y el bienestarismo, y a las diferencias existentes entre ellos. Se repasa la evolución histórica de la protección animal, así como su marco jurídico a nivel comunitario y español, y su relación con movimientos como el veganismo, el ecologismo, la justicia social y el feminismo. La investigación revela diferencias ideológicas en el enfoque hacia el bienestar animal en los distintos partidos analizados, destacando la creciente presencia del animalismo en el panorama político español.

This paper analyses the treatment of animal protection by the main Spanish political parties in the 2023 general elections from the theoretical lens of Critical Animal Studies. Through a critical content analysis, the electoral programmes of the PP, PSOE, Vox, Sumar and PACMA are examined in order to understand their stance on animal protection. The concept of animal protection is contextualised, with reference to the two main animal protection movements, antispeciesism and welfareism, and the differences between them. The historical evolution of animal protection is reviewed, as well as its legal framework at EU and Spanish level, and its relationship with movements such as veganism, environmentalism, social justice and feminism. The research reveals ideological differences in the approach to animal welfare in the different parties analysed, highlighting the growing presence of animalism in the Spanish political landscape.
