Videojuegos y migración: Reflejando complejas realidades

Abstract

The text discusses how video games are used to reflect the realities of migration, an emerging subgenre aimed at raising awareness and educating about the complexity of this issue. Games like Path Out, Survival, and Bury me my Love simulate migrant experiences in dangerous situations, depicting aspects such as war, racism, and social exclusion. While these games aim to raise awareness, they often oversimplify migratory realities, perpetuating stereotypes and prejudices. Despite these limitations, video games are considered powerful tools for fostering empathy and understanding, allowing players to reflect on social and political issues. The text highlights the importance of more accurately representing the complexities and structural causes of migration in this medium to avoid misunderstandings and reductionist views.
