Diferencias de género en preocupaciones y autoestima durante el tercer trimestre de embarazo

Abstract

El género es una variable moduladora del procesamiento de la información a diferentes niveles: emocional, cognitivo y conductual. Esto unido a los cambios que se producen durante el proceso del embarazo, más agudos durante el tercer trimestre, hacen que entre hombres y mujeres se presenten diferencias. Entre ellas las preocupaciones, la llegada de un nuevo miembro al sistema familiar puede hacer que aparezcan tensiones, problemas y cambios en la vida y experiencia de futuros padres y madres. Sentirse capaz o no de afrontar estos cambios puede que haga tambalear la autoestima de los futuros padres y madres. Por ello, el presente estudio pretende observar si existen diferencias de género en las preocupaciones y autoestima durante el tercer trimestre de embarazo, mediante una metodología cuantitativa observacional descriptiva utilizando la escala de preocupaciones de Cambridge y la escala de autoestima de Rosenberg como instrumentos de evaluaciónGender is a variable that modulates information processing at different levels: emotional, cognitive and behavioral. This together with the changes during the pregnancy process, more acute during the third trimestre, may provoke differences between men and women. Among them the concerns, the arrival of a new member to the family system could cause tensions, problems and changes in the life and experience of future parents. Feeling able or not to face these changes might affect their self-esteem. For this reason the present study aims to observe the possible gender differences which may exist in worries and self-esteem during the third trimestre of pregnancy, through a descriptive observational quantitative methodology using the Cambridge worry scale and the Rosenberg self-esteem scale as evaluation instruments.
