Más que monos y máquinas

Abstract

The question of who we are really remains open. We have believed the peak of evolution. And in just an instant historically speaking science has revealed to us that we are nothing more than primates, somewhat more evolved than gorillas and chimpanzees. And the last handle we had left, our intelligence, has been shattered under the roller of the machines of Artificial Intelligence capable of performing complex tasks, solving problems unsuitable for us, making decisions, searching for creative alternatives ..., through intricate computer algorithms . We face the most complex and difficult knowledge problem of all that we can pose within the framework of science. That is why the rush and the urgent need for certainties are out of place. We must become accustomed to wandering and staying in doubt, so we can open up and contemplate as broadly as possible any alternative. Our proposal is that while our brain is basically a sophisticated bio-mechanical computing system, we can not rule out that, at least partially, it operates non-mechanically. The fundamental axis of our approach will be to deepen the understanding of how our mind works and to delve into its most important dimension, the conscious-unconscious quality of its contents and processes. Without understanding the clues of both ways and the interaction between them, it is impossible to understand or order coherently the scientific data of which we have and therefore the nature of our psyche.
