Abstract

El texto analiza la historia del Colegio Imperial de Madrid, fundado por la Compañía de Jesús con propósitos educativos. Destaca la influencia de Agustín de Castro en la evolución del colegio y su relación con la sociedad y la monarquía española. Describe la resistencia inicial de algunos sectores a la presencia jesuita en Madrid y las tensiones con la Inquisición. En un período crítico para la Compañía de Jesús, la emperatriz María, devota de la orden, legó todos sus bienes al Colegio de Madrid en 1589, provocando una intervención papal que protegió a la orden de la injerencia externa. Felipe IV fundó los Reales Estudios en el Colegio Imperial en 1623, marcando un cambio ideológico hacia una Monarquía Católica. Las reformas educativas lideradas por los jesuitas influyeron en la formación de la nobleza española, culminando en la creación del Real Seminario de Nobles en 1725. El monográfico busca analizar la importancia del Colegio Imperial en la Monarquía hispana y el papel de la Compañía de Jesús en su desarrollo educativo e ideológico.The text examines the history of the Imperial College of Madrid, founded by the Society of Jesus for educational purposes. It highlights the influence of Agustín de Castro on the college's evolution and its relationship with Spanish society and monarchy. It describes the initial resistance of some sectors to the Jesuit presence in Madrid and tensions with the Inquisition. In a critical period for the Society of Jesus, Empress María, a devout member, bequeathed all her belongings to the College of Madrid in 1589, prompting a papal intervention that protected the order from external interference. Felipe IV established the Royal Studies at the Imperial College in 1623, signaling an ideological shift towards a Catholic Monarchy. Educational reforms led by the Jesuits influenced the formation of the Spanish nobility, culminating in the creation of the Royal Seminary of Nobles in 1725. The monograph seeks to analyze the importance of the Imperial College in the Spanish Monarchy and the role of the Society of Jesus in its educational and ideological development.
