This project assesses the technical, economic and environmental feasibility of decarbonising the last-mile delivery fleet of the city of Madrid, a sector that, despite accounting for around 10 % of urban traffic, generates a far larger share of pollutant emissions. In the absence of a public census, a representative reference fleet is built, comprising eleven vehicle types and characterised by their technology, age and emission factors. On this basis, a simulation model developed in MATLAB projects the fleet's evolution year by year over the 2026-2050 horizon. The model evaluates three strategies: accelerating fleet renewal, electrifying it, and reorganising deliveries through microhubs. The results show that renewing the fleet reduces local pollutants but not CO₂, which only falls with electrification. This strategy, however, leaves an irreducible residue linked to the cold chain and multiplies electricity demand tenfold. The sizing of the charging infrastructure demonstrates that this demand is manageable through slow overnight charging, with a simultaneity factor that matches the value prescribed by the applicable regulation. The microhub eliminates emissions in the city centre, but multiplies the number of vehicles almost fourfold, and therefore constitutes a selective rather than a generalisable measure. The economic analysis concludes that feasibility is not decided in operation, where the electric vehicle is already profitable, but in the purchase price, which identifies purchase support as the most effective public lever. Beyond its specific figures, the work delivers a replicable methodology, transferable to other fleets and cities by substituting their own input data, as a decision-support tool.en-GB
