Análisis del discurso político de Angela Merkel

Abstract

This Master's thesis analyzes the figure of Angela Merkel as a key benchmark in Europe's historical and political landscape, paying particular attention to her management of major contemporary crises. The study is grounded in a theoretical framework that examines the specificities of political discourse and the characteristics of the feminine rhetorical style. Through a critical analysis of a corpus of Merkel's varied speeches, the study aims to identify the features of the feminine rhetorical style defined by Campbell (1998), as well as the functions of political language outlined by Chilton and Schäffner (2006). This analysis will allow for the determination of the former German Chancellor's distinct rhetorical style. Finally, based on the specific nuances of Angela Merkel's rhetoric, this work provides a set of practical recommendations for conference interpreters.
