The purpose of this arti cle is twofold: to open theology to the «embodied, situated, and materialized» reflection of architecture that I call theotopy, and to open architecture to its (inherent) mystagogical depth. By revealing the synaesthetic, kerygmatic, and eucharistic dimensions, I intend to lay bare how a church is theotopy, that is, how it prepares the ground for a divine encounter in the Spiritus loci or the Spirit of the place.
