Trafficking in human beings (THB) is one of the most cruel crimes faced by the human being, since it affects their dignity and violates several fundamental rights. Through THB the life of the person who is enslaved is robbed. This context justifies that the United Nations have urged the States to fight firmly and comprehensively against this crime through the prevention, protection, persecution and punishment of it. In the same sense, the Council of Europe, the EU and the Ibero-American community have pronounced themselves. International legal cooperation, based on trust between States, is revealed as one of the necessary measures to fight effectively against this crime. The Joint Investigative Teams constitute a modern investigative technique suitable for complex crimes of a transnational nature and executed under criminal organizations, whose use should be frequent and facilitated by the States in the struggle of the THB.en-GB
