METODOLOGÍA DE CUANTIFICACIÓNDE RIESGO DE MODELO Y APLICACIÓN PARA LA VALIDACIÓN DE MODELOS DE VALORACIÓN DE OPCIONES FINANCIERAS

Abstract

Desde la crisis económica mundial del 2007 ha habido un incremento en la complejidad y cantidad de regulaciones destinadas al control de las actividades bancarias. El área de riesgo de mercado con sus métricas tradicionales han sufrido este hecho con particular intensidad con las reformas presentadas en Basilea III y la FRTB. Este trabajo plantea el modelado alternativo de las distribuciones de pérdidas y ganancias con distribuciones generalizadas de Pareto. Este enfoque mejora el desempeño con respecto a los enfoques paramétricos tradicionales mientras que parece no aportar diferencias significativas con respecto a enfoques sin distribución estimada subyacente. Los resultados obtenidos sugieren la dirección de abandonar intentos de modelado de mayor complejidad para buscar soluciones más robustas en la exposición.Since the world economic crisis which initiated back in the year 2007, there has been many changes regarding the quantity and complexity of the regulations directed towards the banking industry. Risk management metrics and intitutions have suffered this fact with special intensity through reforms presented at Basel III in documents such as the FRTB. This work developes a new approach to the modelling of P\&L distributions through the use of generalized Pareto distributions. The new approach presents a better performance with respect to all the parametric approaches which have been put to test while not presenting significant differences with respecto to approaches which do not need to assume an underlying distribution. The results obtained suggest that more robust solutions are preferible to attemps that try to capture more information by adding complexity to traditionally used distributions.
