Abstract

Background Dyspareunia is defined as a genitopelvic pain or penetration disorder before, during or after sexual intercourse. It affects 14.8% of middle-aged, young (10.8%) or long-lived (8.9%). The usual treatment consists of manual therapy, Thiele massage and intravaginal massage and Kegel exercises. On the other hand, the treatment of hypopressive abdominal gymnastics treatment has a beneficial effect on the relaxation of the abdomen, the abdominal, the pelvic floor muscles and the symptoms of dyspareunia. Objective To evaluate the efficacy of hypopressive exercises together with the usual treatment versus only applying the usual treatment in patients with dyspareunia. Methodology An analytical, experimental, randomized, prospective, longitudinal and single-blind. The study will consist of 36 subjects who will be randomly divided into 2 groups. The control group will receive the treatment with hypopressive exercises and the experimental group will receive only the usual treatment. Phase I will be in the hospital and Phase II Kegel and hypopressive exercises will be performed at home. The duration of the study will cover 16 weeks. Two measurements will be taken to obtain data collected before and after treatment. In addition, the cause-effect relationship of the dependent variables will be assessed by means of 4 questionaires to measure: pain (VAS), sexual function (FSFI), muscle strength (New Perfect: Performance) and quality of life (EHP-30). The results will be analyzed by means of a pre-post mean comparison between both groups.
