Retranslating Lorca s homoerotic poetry from taboo to totemic texts an analysis of ten versions of the Ode to Walt Whitman

Abstract

Esta comunicación propone un análisis diacrónico de las retraducciones de la 'Oda a Walt Whitman', una poema que contiene algunas de las referencias más explícitas a la homosexualidad que permeaba su poesía y que fue el gran tabú innombrable alrededor de de su obra durante su vida y durante décadas después de su asesinato al principio de la Guerra Civil Española.

This paper proposes a diachronic analysis of ten retranslations of Lorca s Ode to Walt Whitman , a poem which contains some of the most explicit references to the homosexuality that permeated his poetry and was the great unmentionable taboo surrounding his work during his brief life and for decades after his murder at the start of the Spanish Civil War.
