Diseño y construcción de un convertidor DC-DC bidireccional para aplicaciones fotovoltaicas
Abstract
El objetivo de este proyecto de fin de grado consiste en el diseño y simulación de un convertidor DC-DC para aplicaciones fotovoltaicas. Se ha elegido la topología "Dual Active Bridge (DAB)" entre otros motivos por su carácter bidireccional y para satisfacer las necesidades de la aplicación deseada. Ésta es la conexión en paralelo de un elemento almacenador de energía como una batería, al panel fotovoltaico. Este paralelo irá conectado a la red a través de otro convertidor para transformar la corriente continua en alterna.
La topología elegida, el DAB, conectará la batería a un bus de continua de alta tensión, con la intención de, suministrar la cantidad correcta de energía a la red cuando exista un "mismatch" entre la energía que pueden proporcionar los paneles y la que necesita la red en ese momento. Esto podría suceder en caso de que, por ejemplo, apareciera una nube que hiciera que los niveles de potencia suministrada bajaran. Se realizó un estudio detallado de la topología para poder diseñar los componentes del convertidor teniendo en cuenta las estrategias de "Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS)" que mejorarán la eficiencia.
El proyecto fue formulado como una versión a escala de lo que podría ser un convertidor real por razones de seguridad en el laboratorio. Por esa razón, se han encontrado algunos problemas con el dimensionamiento de algunos componentes como el transformador. Parte de los próximos pasos que se deberían seguir son el diseño del control y la búsqueda de una solución para el diseño del transformador, para que al final el convertidor pueda llegar a ser construido.
This thesis explores the dual active bridge (DAB) topology and implements it on a bi-directional DC-DC converter.The application it is intended for is the connection in parallel of an energy storage device, such as a battery, with photovoltaic (PV) cells, and then in series to the grid through another converter, but this time a DC-AC. The DAB topology will be implemented in the interconnection of a battery to the high voltage DC bus, with the intention of, through a control scheme that may be designed afterwards, supplying the correct amount of energy when the PV cells cannot provide a steady power output, like for example in the case of cloud appearance and, therefore, a decrease in the insolation levels. A detailed study of the topology was made in order to choose the components for the converter. In addition, zero voltage switching (ZVS) techniques have been implemented to improve the efficiency. The project was designed as a proof of concept, thereby limiting the power output to safe values for the laboratory. For that reason, some issues have arisen in terms of the components choices, leaving us with a transformer that is hard to build for the desired specifications. Hence, future work includes the design of the control scheme as well as the realization of the transformer for a later construction.
