EL PROCESAMIENTO DE TEXTOS JURÍDICOS: NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING & LEGAL TECH
Abstract
La aparición de técnicas relacionados con el procesamiento de lenguaje natural supone una verdadera revolución para numerosos sectores, entre los que podemos destacar la industria legal.
Para analizar este impacto es necesario conocer los fundamentos básicos del procesamiento de lenguaje natural. Esto permite hacerse ya una idea de las posibilidades que el empleo de estas técnicas ofrece para transformar la práctica jurídica.
El número de empresas (en su gran mayoría startups) especializadas en este tipo de algoritmos destinados a la automatización del sector legal es cada vez mayor. El amplio abanico de posibilidades que permite el uso de estos algoritmos hace que haya muchas empresas que ofrecen servicios diferenciados: desde automatizar la redacción de un contrato, a hacerlo con la búsqueda de la jurisprudencia, pasando por el diseño de los primeros chatbots legales.
La realidad práctica nos indica que se han realizado ya algunos estudios empíricos sobre la precisión de este tipo de técnicas y que los despachos de referencia están apostando por unas tecnologías que, si bien no pueden sustituir al abogado, sí pueden ayudarle a ofrecer un servicio de mayor valor.
The emergence of techniques related to natural language processing is a real revolution for many sectors, among which we can highlight the legal industry. In order to analyse this impact, it is necessary to understand the basic fundamentals of natural language processing. This already gives an idea of the possibilities that the use of these techniques offers for transforming legal practice. The number of companies (mostly startups) specialising in this type of algorithms for automating the legal sector is growing. The wide range of possibilities offered by the use of these algorithms means that there are many companies offering different services: from automating the drafting of a contract, to doing so with the search for case law, to designing the first legal chatbots. Practical reality indicates that some empirical studies have already been carried out on the accuracy of these types of techniques and that leading law firms are betting on technologies that, although they cannot replace the lawyer, they can help him or her to offer a more valuable service.
