Abstract

The global opportunity for investing in pistachio harvesting is becoming more noticeable due to the scarcity of supply and the tremendous global demand. This great demand ensures that the production, if of good quality, will be sold, even increasing its value if the pistachio is organic. Spain presents, especially in Castilla-La Mancha, the optimal conditions for its harvesting, and still, there is not a great competitiveness at a national level since less than 10% of the world production is Spanish.

The value proposition of MAO S.L. is to become a company specialized in the harvesting, production, and commercialization of organic pistachio with the aim of taking advantage of the worldwide demand of this product. Although there is increasing awareness of the great opportunity of this crop the market will not be overexploited due to the inconvenience of this investment, the initial investment is costly and consists of a long term investment, as the plants begin to produce fruit from the age of five, usually reaching their maximum capacity at eight or ten years of age. Even so, being aware of the high expectation of profits, it is necessary to take into account the fact that not only the price of pistachio is booming, but also that the land is continuously revaluating, representing a guarantee for the investment since, by planting pistachio trees on the ground and adapting the area to its usefulness, we are increasing their value considerably.

The business plan will be focused on the description of the business idea as well as the study of its environment, taking into account all aspects that may affect the business. Once analyzed, the feasibility and profitability of the project will be studied through an economic-financial plan considering two scenarios, the optimist and the pessimist.
