Abstract

The overrepresentation of migrant youth and adolescents in crime statistics, as well as the visibility of the violence perpetrated by them in some parts of Europe, have focused on the possible relationship between crime and migration (Fernández-Pacheco, 2018). In the national context, surveys carried out by the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) highlight that the "attitude towards immigration" is linked to a rejection resulting from the perception that the immigrant is related to crime (CIS, 2017). However, other research carried out, both in the national and foreign contexts, reports that foreign adolescents have lower levels of antisocial and criminal behavior than natives (Alonso-Borrego, Garoupa, & Vázquez, 2012). Although it is true that the previous framework shows how much research has been done on the “immigrant-crime” binomial, it also reveals the scarce information that documents the perception of insecurity, as a subjective dimension, generated specifically by immigrant minors. In this sense, the objective of this research was to determine the level of perception of insecurity generated in different professional groups by coinciding with the native and foreign youth population residing in Spain.
