Implementation of world class internal logistics in an automotive JIS facility
Abstract
Implementación de la logística interna de una planta de automoción JIS:
Grupo Antolin es una empresa española dedicada a la fabricación de interiores de automóviles. Tienen una gran presencia en Reino Unido donde su principal cliente es el grupo Jaguar Land Rover. Esta es la razón por la que han decidido trasladar una de sus plantas a otra más grande en Huyton, Liverpool.
Aprovechando esta situación y siguiendo los principios just-int-time (JIT), Grupo Antolin ha querido realizar una gran cantidad de mejoras. Una de ellas es implementar el conocido concepto de "Supermercado". Estos son áreas distribuidas por la planta que sirven como almacén intermedio para las partes requeridas por las líneas de ensamblaje cercanas.
El propósito de este estudio es diseñar e implementar, desde un punto de vista logístico, el supermercado de la línea de ensamblaje de "Loadspace" de la nueva planta. Para ello es necesario tener en cuenta una gran cantidad de información: proveedores, frecuencias de entrega, uso estimado, tamaños del embalaje, ... Toda esta información se reúne y se elabora el PFEP (plan For Every Part) que es la pilar sobre el que se apoya el supermercado, el cual aumenta la eficiencia y reduce los desperdicios al sólo suministrar lo que la línea de ensamblaje requiere.
Implementation of internal logistics in an automotive company: Grupo Antolin is a Spanish company dedicated to manufacture automotive interiors. They have a large presence in the United Kingdom as they are one of the most important suppliers into Jaguar Land Rover. That is the reason why they have decided to move one of their plants to a larger site in Huyton, Liverpool. Taking advantage of this situation and following just-in-time (JIT) principles, Grupo Antolin wants to adopt the so-called supermarket concept. Supermarkets are storage areas distributed throughout the shopfloor that serve as an intermediate store for parts required for the nearby assembly lines. The purpose of this study is to develop and design, from a logistic point of view, the supermarket for loadspace assembly line within the new plant. To do that it will be necessary to take into account a large amount of information: suppliers, lead times, delivery frequency, usage, packaging sizes … All this information will be collected and it will be elaborated the PFEP (Plan For Every Part) which is the basis in developing a supermarket to increase efficiency and decrease waste by receiving goods only as they are needed in the production process.
