Abstract

This Final Degree Project aims to study the problem of school violence, focusing specifically on the Community of Madrid, one of the most populated and culturally diverse regions of Spain. The aim of the work is to analyze the risk factors of the victim and the aggressor associated with school violence in schools in the Community of Madrid, as well as to examine the institutional responses implemented by schools and educational authorities to prevent and address this problem in order to provide a proposal for improvement. School violence is a social phenomenon of great relevance nowadays, which can be a major obstacle to students' learning, as well as putting their safety and well-being at risk. This occurs in a space where personal growth, socialization and knowledge acquisition should be given full priority. Violence against students is an impediment to the learning process, and has a significant impact on the individual and social context of the individual. LOPIVI understands a safe environment as “one that respects the rights of children and promotes a protective physical, psychological and social environment, including the digital environment” (art. 3.m, LOPIVI). (art. 3.m, LOPIVI) By this it refers not to an environment of 0 violence, but to an environment where there are effective protocols and a rapid response to conflict. The school is supposed to be a safe environment where students' rights are respected and their learning and growth are promoted. Is this true for everyone? Not everyone can say that they have felt in a safe environment while at school.
