Dominación tan amplia. Lectura crítico-política del prefacio a «Totalité et infini»

Abstract

El artículo realiza una lectura crítico-política del prefacio de «Totalité et infini» de Emmanuel Lévinas, examinando las implicaciones políticas de su filosofía. A partir de la identificación levinasiana entre guerra, ontología y dominación, analiza críticamente la tesis de que la guerra constituye una forma radical de dominación que convierte la moral en un mero juego. El estudio se pregunta por los límites de esta interpretación y por las consecuencias que tiene para el pensamiento político. Asimismo, aborda las nociones de paz, bien, profecía y revelación como posibles vías para superar una política fundamentada en la totalidad y la guerra. Finalmente, plantea la posibilidad de concebir una política diferente, orientada por la responsabilidad moral y capaz de reconocer la alteridad sin reducirla a las categorías totalizadoras de la ontología.

The article offers a critical-political reading of the preface to Emmanuel Levinas’s «Totalité et infini», examining the political implications of his philosophy. Starting from the Levinasian connection between war, ontology and domination, it critically analyses the claim that war constitutes a radical form of domination that turns morality into a mere game. The study considers the limits of this interpretation and its consequences for political thought. It also examines peace, the good, prophecy and revelation as possible ways of overcoming a politics grounded in totality and war. Finally, the article explores the possibility of conceiving a different form of politics, guided by moral responsibility and capable of acknowledging alterity without reducing it to the totalizing categories associated with ontology and political domination.
