Abstract
Literary translation is intimately linked to the cultural reality of the target language (Toury: 1995). Attempts at manipulation, inherent in every work of translation, may be conditioned by a number of circumstances which mark the reception of the literary work: reader sensitivity (Manguel, 1998), aesthetic canons (Even-Zohar, 1990; Lefevere, 1992), publishing fashions and censorship (Rabadán, 2000).
