Umbrales entre cielo y tierra. Espacios litúrgicos contemporáneos

Abstract

Precisamente porque los fieles son las piedras vivas del templo espiritual (1Pe 2,4-5) en la única Liturgia que se celebra en la tierra como en el cielo, los lugares donde se reúnen deben ser umbrales entre cielo y tierra, vislumbrando el cielo en la tierra, sin reducirlo a ella. Los textos conciliares y algunos edificios contemporáneos ofrecen nuevos criterios para alimentar nuestra imaginación escatológica sobre el cielo, enraizada existencialmente. La arquitectura permite un acercamiento a la esperanza cristiana desde la relación dinámica-espacial que mantiene con los usuarios. En este sentido, el cielo se vislumbra como communio sanctorum, no primordialmente de manera especulativa o visual, sino de manera corporal y corporativa en una comunidad celebrante y solidaria.

Precisely because the faithful are the living stones of the spiritual temple (1Pe 2:4-5) in the one Liturgy celebrated on earth as in heaven, the places where they gather must be thresholds between heaven and earth, bringing to light heaven on earth without being reduced to it. The texts of the Second Vatican Council and some contemporary buildings offer new criteria for nourishing our existentially rooted eschatological imagination about heaven. Architecture allows for approaching Christian hope from the viewpoint of its spatial, dynamic relationship with its users. In this sense, heaven comes to light as communio sanctorum, not primarily through speculative or visual means, but bodily and corporatively in a celebrating and solidary community.
