Abstract

CONCLUSION DEL ESTUDIO

The objective of the present work "Fertilization in the oil production process" is to evaluate the influence of different variables of fertilization and climate on oil production variables. The study is carried out from the data of four years (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010) of the olive grove located in Valdepeñas, Ciudad Real, provided by Bodegas Mendieta. The data obtained are from two cultivation areas, one from the Picual variety and the other from the Arbequina variety. These areas are divided into four blocks, and in each block all fertilization treatments are applied, varying every year. Regarding the fertilization data, only the data for 2009 and 2010 have been obtained, the data for 2007 and 2008 have been obtained by means of a simulation within reasonable ranges of fertilization quantities.

In the first part of the work the construction of a database is carried out, for the subsequent realization of explanatory models. In this database, the production variables are shown in columns first, followed by fertilization variables and, finally, climatological variables of the Manzanares Climatological Station, next to Valdepeñas. The database is finally composed of 12 variables to be explained by area of cultivation (“Picual” and “Arbequina”): fresh weight, dry weight, fat yield based on dry weight, fat yield based on fresh weight, number of fruits per olive, oil content per olive, growth of bud length, growth of the perimeter of the trunk, number of buds budded by bud and number of fruits after setting.

METHODOLOGY To address the study of the influence of the fertilization variables (according to the treatment) and climate in the production outcome, the Linear Regression Model has been used through “Gretl” program, being edited until obtaining an optimal estimate. On the other hand, we have used the Machine Learning technique: the Multilayer Perceptron, through the R-Studio program, which also measures the weight of independent variables in a dependent variable. The results of the two methods have been contrasted to obtain conclusions for Arbequina and Picual olive varieties.

STUDY CONCLUSION

After the elaboration and the analysis of the Linear Regression and MLP models (Multilayer Perceptron), a summary conclusion has been made by independent variable "X" , for each plot (Arbequina or Picual). This summary includes a table by independent variable, indicating the different dependent variables that it affects and how it influences them, establishing three degrees of reliability (high, medium and low) for the conclusions obtained.
