Financiación alternativa para el emprendedor: las initial coin offerings a examen

Abstract

En la actualidad, la financiación al emprendimiento está experimentando un gran cambio a nivel mundial, con la aparición de nuevos cauces de conexión entre oferta y demanda de recursos financieros. Uno de los nuevos mecanismos que ha irrumpido con fuerza, como vía alternativa de financiación, son las ofertas públicas de criptoactivos (Initial Coin Offerings - ICO), focalizadas en la financiación de proyectos en el campo de la tecnología blockchain. En este artículo se analizan las principales características, riesgos y ventajas de las ICO, respecto a formas tradicionales de financiación haciendo hincapié en su relación con el crowdfunding.Entrepreneurship financing is currently experiencing significant changes worldwide, driven by the emergence of new channels to match supply and demand for funds. One of the new mechanisms that have emerged as alternative sources of financing for projects based on blockchain technology is Initial Cryptoasset Offerings (ICO, or Initial Coin Offerings). In this article, we analyze the main characteristics, risks, and advantages with respect to traditional forms of financing innovation of ICOs, paying special attention to their relationship with crowdfunding.
