El genocidio de los Rohingyas en Myanmar
Abstract
The Rohingya, an ethnic minority resident of Myanmar, has been living a precarious situation for decades in its own country. Persecutions, torture, violations are only several examples of the practices that the society as well as the government are carrying out against them. They are a non-recognized ethnic group by the states, thus they are prohibited to have access to education, healthcare and several jobs. This paper will study the situation of the Rohingya in Myanmar by previously analyzing the history of the country and this ethnic group in it. Moreover, it will be demonstrated that a genocide is occurring against the Rohingyas taking into consideration several academic definitions with a more in-depth study from the academic Feierstein’s point of view. Furthermore, a comparative study will be followed between the Rohingya’s current situation and the internationally recognized genocide of Srebrenica, in order to prove that a real genocide is taking place in Myanmar.
