This chapter examines the influence of preoperative information and psychological suitability on outcomes in patients undergoing sleeve gastrectomy. Using a systematic review conducted according to PRISMA 2020 guidelines, it evaluates evidence concerning patient expectations, adherence, pre-existing psychological disorders, assessment instruments, and preoperative psychological interventions. Findings suggest that comprehensive and realistic information can reduce anxiety, improve self-efficacy, and enhance postoperative adherence. Conditions such as binge eating disorder, depression, and anxiety should be identified and stabilised, although they are not necessarily absolute contraindications to surgery. Cognitive behavioural therapy emerges as the intervention with the strongest supporting evidence. The chapter concludes that structured psychological assessment, patient education, and targeted intervention should be incorporated into multidisciplinary preoperative care to improve long-term clinical and psychosocial outcomes after sleeve gastrectomy.en-GB
