Entrada de Finlandia y Suecia en la OTAN: retos para la Alianza y sus consecuencias

Abstract

El estallido de la Guerra de Ucrania el 24 de febrero de 2022 ha llevado a Finlandia y a Suecia a dejar atrás su posición de no intervención y a solicitar la adhesión en la OTAN, haciéndose efectiva la de Finlandia el pasado mes de abril. Así, las negociaciones para su ingreso y la firma de adhesión por parte de los Estados miembros generan distintas opiniones en el panorama internacional. Las amenazas de Rusia contra su adhesión, unido al aumento de los recursos destinados a la defensa, suponen un cambio radical en el orden internacional. Así, las potencias de Oriente se verían amenazadas ante el aumento de poder de Occidente, lo que podría desencadenar en un conflicto a gran escala por la intervención de la OTAN, e incluso en el uso de armamento nuclear.The outbreak of the war in Ukraine on February 24th, 2022 has led Finland and Sweden to leave behind their position of non-intervention and to apply for NATO membership, which became effective last April in the case of Finland. Thus, the negotiations for membership and the signature of accession by the member states are being object of different opinions on the international scene. Russia's threats against NATO membership, together with the increase in defense resources, represent a radical change in the international order. Thus, the powers of the East would be threatened by the increasing power of the West, which could lead to a large-scale conflict through the intervention of NATO, and even to the use of nuclear weapons.
