AMPLIACIÓN DE POTENCIA DE UN CICLO COMBINADO MEDIANTE COMPRESIÓN HÚMEDA

Abstract

Este TFM surge de la mano de una entidad colaboradora bajo el deseo de la misma de hacer una repotenciación de una Central de Ciclo Combinado situada en México, de la cual es propietaria. Para abordarlo, se explican cuáles son los motivos por los que interesa incrementar la potencia de la central haciendo un breve análisis de la coyuntura en que se encuentra el sector eléctrico mexicano. Posteriormente, se hace una descripción del funcionamiento actual de la central a fin de conocer su desempeño y sus peculiaridades. Tras esto, se plantean distintas alternativas de repotenciación y se estudia su viabilidad técnica y económica empleando para ello el software de simulación Thermoflow y Excel. De entre las alternativas estudiadas, la repotenciación mediante sistema de compresión húmeda se postula como la alternativa más efectiva para la ampliación de potencia de la central en cuestión, tanto desde un punto de vista técnico como económico. Como consecuencia de esta elección, se entra en detalle en dicha tecnología, explicado en qué consiste el sistema y describiendo las partes de la central que han de sufrir modificaciones como consecuencia de la implantación del mismo. Finalmente, se describe la situación de la central tras la ampliación de potencia comentando técnica y económicamente las mejoras conseguidas y comparando los resultados reales obtenidos en la central con los que se obtienen en las simulaciones. Finalmente, como conclusión global de este TFM, se puede decir que los proyectos de repotenciación de las centrales de ciclo combinado existentes permiten mejorar el desempeño de las mismas constituyendo, por tanto, una vía de ingresos económicos para la empresa propietaria de la central y un apoyo a un sistema energético de demanda creciente y con alta penetración de fuentes imprevisibles como las renovables.This Master Thesis arises from a collaborating entity under its desire to repower a Combined Cycle Power Plant located in Mexico, property of the collaborating entity. To address it, it is explained what are the reasons to increase the capacity of the plant by making a brief analysis of the current situation of the Mexican power industry. Subsequently, a description of the current operation of the plant is made in order to know its performance and its peculiarities. After this, different repowering alternatives are considered and their technical and economic feasibility is studied using Thermoflow simulation software and Excel. Among the alternatives studied, repowering by means of a High Fogging system is postulated as the most effective alternative for the repowering of the plant, both from a technical and economic point of view. As a consequence of this choice, the technology of High Fogging is described, explaining the fundamentals of the technology and describing the parts of the plant that have to be modified as a consequence of its implementation. Finally, the situation of the plant after the repowering is described, commenting technically and economically the improvements obtained and comparing the real results obtained in the plant with the ones obtained in the simulations. Finally, as a global conclusion of this Thesis, it can be said that the repowering projects of existing combined cycle power plants allow improving their performance constituting a way of economic income for the company that owns the plant and a support for an energy system with growing demand and high penetration from unpredictable sources such as renewables.
