El desafío de la interpretación en las Relaciones Internacionales: el Constructivismo Social entre epistemología y metodología

Abstract

El siguiente capítulo analiza el debate surgido en la disciplina de las Relaciones Internacionales en los últimos treinta años sobre cuestiones epistemológicas y metodológicas. Después de analizar el debate entre enfoques estructurales (positivistas) y enfoques alternativos (post-positivistas), examina el uso de los métodos históricos-interpretativos en el estudio de la política internacional, evidenciando sus virtudes y limitaciones, los debates internos a los enfoques que han utilizado estas metodologías y las posibilidades de colaboración con metodologías más tradicionales y procedentes de una epistemología positivista.The following chapter analyzes the debate that emerged in the discipline of International Relations in the last thirty years about methodological and epistemological issues. After analyzing the debate between structural (positivist) approaches and alternative (post-positivist) approaches, it examines the use of historical and interpretative methods in the study of international politics. Moreover, it sheds light on its virtues and limitations, on the debates that characterized the authors and the approaches that used these methodologies and the possibilities of collaboration with more traditional methodologies coming from positivist epistemology
